If you’re new to my 52 zippers project, you can read the backstory, see all the zipper pouches, and download basic zipper pouch instructions here.
So my project is finally complete! I thought it would be fun to do a little wrap-up post where I handed out awards to some of my favorite projects of the series.
Without further ado, the categories and winners are: Best quick teacher’s gift (and wouldn’t drive me crazy sewing a bunch of them at the last minute): Devon pouch. Honorable mention: What’s in your bag
Best special gift (more time consuming, but worth it): Necessary clutch
Smallest & cutest (and would make again): Easy Wonder clip bowl
Best bigger bag: Maker’s tote in Small. I love how much the bigger one holds, but for more everyday needs, the smaller works better. Plus I really like the patchwork on the exterior of the small one!
Best pencil pouch: Sleeping bag pouch
Best makeup or travel pouch: Set to go cosmetic case
Best set: Mini notions pouches
Best for Bullet journals or sketchbooks: Creative maker case, size Medium
Best organizer bag: Sew together bag
Now, you’d think I’d be REALLY tired of zippers at this point, and I have to admit, when I was working hard to finish them all before my big trip, I was definitely tired of zippers for a bit. But now that I’ve had a break from them, I kind of miss the fun of a quick project. I’ll definitely make more zippered projects in the future, just not quite at the same pace. Ha!
When I started this project I wondered if I’d run out of ideas or patterns that I wanted to try. I had nothing to worry about! Not only did I easily find 52, but there were even a few projects that didn’t quite make it into the lineup. If you’re curious, this Fall or Winter I’ll be tackling the Summit backpack and the Mini sew together bag when I get my machine back.
I’ve really enjoyed sewing and writing this series, and hopefully I’ve inspired you to try a zipper project of your own!

wow awesome, i have just gotten back into sewing…can you suggest a very east to follow zipper pouch or purse to start with? thanks and i love all of yours.
This has been inspiring… the makers totes are whispering to me…lol.
The Maker’s totes are good ones! You’ll be happy you did it! 🙂
I be like the pencil bag. However when I went to the pattern it was not in English. Is there anyway to get the pattern in English? Thank you
S.o.t.a.k. handmade has some great tutorials on her site. Some of them are definitely on the easier side.
Hi there…do you publish the other zipper bags you made? Can we buy them all?? Very cute and practical ideas. Definitely want to try them. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! I don’t sell the other patterns, sorry!
I really liked this wrap up! I just went through my old sewing stash and I found a bag of zippers I got at a Goodwill years ago for $3.96. I also had a bundle of reclaimed zippers from work-out clothes and broken suitcases. All in all I ended the day with 67 zippers!!! Most of them are long zippers for dresses, but several are going to be made into zipper pouches.
