If you’re new to my 52 zippers project, you can read the backstory, see all the zipper pouches, and download basic zipper pouch instructions here.

This pouch is my second run through a Creative Maker case, a pattern by Sew Sweetness. Last time I made three of the Small size for teacher’s gifts. This time I made one of the Medium size for myself!

I’ve been wanting a case for my quilting notebook and this fits ~perfectly~. My quilting book is a Leuchtturm 1917 Hardcover A5 dotted notebook and it is absolutely fantastic for all my quilting lists, notes, ideas, and sketches. I have another one for my day-to-day Bullet journal but I needed one just for quilting stuff. 🙂

The covers are made with an old hoarded fabric, “Lush Uptown” by Erin Michael, paired with by Essex yarn-dyed linen in Olive.

The inside has more of the Essex, paired with an old favorite from Modern Quilt Studio (the Georgetown line). The binding on the mesh pocket is a fussy-cut bit of the Lush Uptown to maximize color.

I again made a few little changes when following the pattern… I omitted the Peltex inside the covers as I didn’t want the cover to be too stiff, and it seems just fine without it. I also changed the layout of the elastic loops a bit to fit the markers I wanted to put in here–so now it fits 22 of my favorite markers, Stabilo 68’s. I’m using the mesh pocket for the moment to hold a sketching pen (Pigma Micron 01), and plan to add a pencil and a ruler as well.

I used a ByAnnie’s purse zipper (color “Twilight”) and navy blue mesh. I found a warm gray ¼” elastic on Etsy for the pen loops.

I still have plans to make one of the large size for each of my kids to hold a sketchbook and colored pencils, but not this week! Ha!
