This week’s quilt I named “Cactus Flower”. It has been an unpleasant winter here in Minnesota, and I am very much looking forward to spring! The layout below would be throw size—60 inches square.

I really like how this turned out. I can easily see myself putting this together as a leader/ender project. I am smitten with the colors, too. Of course, I am very partial to navy/dark blue combined with brights right now 🙂

I wanted to try using a Design Seeds palette by importing the colors directly into EQ as fabrics. I picked this one:
Anyway, this is a very simple quilt with just two 12″ blocks:
Block 1
Block 2
Block 1, 12.5 inches unfinished
A = 2.5 inches unfinished
B = 4.5 inches unfinished

Block 2, 12.5 inches unfinished
A = 2 inches unfinished
B = 6.5 x 3.5 inches unfinished
C = 2 x 3.5 inches unfinished
D = 3.5 inches unfinished

About Free Pattern Friday:

I am learning how to use EQ7 and trying to stretch my designing and coloring muscles. I wanted to be able to share what I came up with, hence this series. I will list cutting sizes, and anything else that would be critical to figuring it out, but to be able to make this free I am not going to post instructions—you will need to work out the details, like fabric requirements and piecing, on your own.

You can use the free patterns in this series however you want except for to sell the pattern, copy the images, or mass-produce these quilts. All of the blocks I use are either included with EQ (which means they are in the public domain) or they are my own that I am giving permission to use. I would love to hear back if you make anything from these patterns!
